The Dovela (Keystone)is an air stone, the "Sun Stone." The Aztec basalt monolith excavated in the Zócalo in Mexico City, means "Tonatiuhtlan de Ollin" or "Sun of Movement." The god of the sun it represents, Tonatiuh, grabs a heart and expresses the need for continuity of solar time. The rays we can appreciate in this beautiful archaeological piece are the symbol of light, which we have to find through the discovery of what we are, what we feel and what we do. Tenacity and patience are required (Earth), also spiritual strength (Fire), capacity to adapt to different circumstances of life (Water) and mindfulness (Air). No wonder the Aztecs, Incas, Mayans, Egyptians, etc., identified the Sun with the universal spirit of life, trying to associate its physical characteristics with the spiritual ones. Thus, they would reveal the greatness of the intangible.

Paul Maich and Ted Swift of Maich Swift Architects explain their characterful, open-air Potemkin Theatre in this exclusive video produced by Dezeen.

Located atop a flat-roof warehouse at Columbia and Brunswick Wharf in East London, the Potemkin Theatre is a narrow three-storey structure with a chequered green facade that overlooks the canal and an open back that addresses the roof of the building.

Within its structural timber frame is a winding yellow staircase that grants access to a viewing gallery at each level and an observation-deck-cum-performance-space that is concealed in the theatre's roof.

Both sides of the pavilion are designed to host a series of cultural events.

The Potemkin Theatre is the third Antepavilion structure to be installed on the site in East London. Previous winners include a bright yellow inflatable event space built on a barge in the canal and a micro-house disguised as a ventilation duct.
Writers Theatre is a popular theater company in the Chicago suburb of Glencoe, Illinois. With their new permanent home, Writers wanted to ensure an improving their facilities for their global community of artists, and creating new relationships with the public. The resulting design, with its transparency and flexibility, is intended to energize daily life in downtown Glencoe, creating an open, welcoming space where the potential of theater to unite people across boundaries through shared experience is rendered visible.
